Annotations:
The two persons pictured in this work are presumably Fernand Léger and Leonce Rosenberg during their Italian trip. The two figures relate to the ones in the painting «Paysage animé» of 1924, which is located at the Philadelphia Museum of Arts, and of which the present artwork probably is a study.
