The artist Adriana Varejayo, born in 1964, lives and works in Rio de Janeiro. From her works pours out a strong creative power, an energy which comes from the source rooted in the complex heritage from her country, from the emotionality of the Brazilian (colonial) history. The artist's skills show in many ways how to visualize and intensify the various genres and atmospheric moments. It does not matter if styles and artistic directions from all kind of situations, art movements and epochs merge - in the opposite, her works are an unusual, fascinating complexitiy, similar to mosaics. Adriana Varejao belongs to the leading lights of contemporary Brazilian artist and her works are international famous and successful. She was part of the exhibitions at the Guggenheim Museum,New York, at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and at the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain, Paris. In 1995 was she represented at the Biennale Venedig and the Biennale in Johannesburg, in 1998 at the Biennale Sao Paulo, in 1999 at the First Biennale for Contemporay Art in Liverpool and in 2000 at the Biennale Sydney.
