With her color-intensive and expansive installations, the German artist Katharina Grosse belongs to the most important painters of the international contemporary art. The work of the first-time Oskar Schlemmer award winner is known to a worldwide audience through numerous presentations at biennials, group and solo exhibitions in renowned institutions such as the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, the Denver Art Museum or the Kunstmuseum Bonn.
Since the 1990s, Katharina Grosse uses a spray gun with compressor and works on a wide variety of surfaces. With focus on the potential of color she creates multidimensional, dynamic works, which always also include temporal aspects and constantly explore and widen the space for painting. The work "Ohne Titel" 2007 invites us into an imaginary world, in layers of color and time.

Katharina Grosse studied painting at the art academies of Münster and Düsseldorf. From 2000-2010 she had professorship at the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weissensee and from 2010-2018 at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf. She lives and works in Berlin.
